Device tests that run in your browser

Check your microphone, camera, keyboard, mouse, speakers or screen in one click. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, and when something is broken each page tells you how to fix it on Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and Chromebook.

Every test runs entirely in your browser. No audio, video or keystrokes are recorded or uploaded.

Why test in a browser?

Most device problems show up at the worst moment — five minutes before a call, or just as an online exam starts. A browser test is the fastest way to find out whether the problem is your hardware, your operating system's permissions, or the app you were about to use. You need nothing but the page you are already on.

These tests use the same browser APIs that video-calling apps use, so if a test here works, your device and drivers are fine and the problem lies in the app's own settings. That alone narrows most troubleshooting from an hour to a minute.

What “runs in your browser” actually means

When you press Start, your browser asks your permission and then hands the page a live stream from the device. That stream is read in the page and discarded. There is no upload code on these pages: no audio, video or keypress is sent anywhere, and closing the tab ends it. If you record a clip to play back, it is held in your browser's memory and never leaves the device.

Your browser will show its own recording indicator while a test is running — a dot in the tab, or a light beside your camera. That indicator is the browser telling you the truth about what is active, and it switches off the moment you press Stop.
